Meet the Instructors

 

Laurie Lee

Laurie Lee is our administrator for the Kelly Creek Summer Arts School as well she is one of two Programs Persons working in the Kelly Creek Community School Programs Office. Laurie Lee is the KCCS Ceramic Technician and the school's pottery instructor. She also teaches evening adult ceramic classes through the KCCS Programs.

 

Alfred Muma

Alfred Muma has been a painter and printmaker for thirty two years. He works in water colour, acrylic, oil, alkyd, mixed media, collage, woodcuts, lino blocks, stencil prints, and intaglio in the style of expressive realist. He works both in the studio and on location with subjects that include landscape, figures, nightscapes, seascapes, urban night scenes, and music interpretation.

Alfreds works are in corporate and private collections in British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, the United States, England, Scotland, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Finland, China and Australia.

Alfred has taught through North West Community College and the Queen Charlotte Islands Recreation Commission on the Queen Charlotte Islands as well as he ran a private art school from his studio and gallery. Since moving to Powell River his instructions to adults and children have been through the Powell River Liesure Services, Malaspina University College, Kelly Creek Community School Programs, Partners in Education, Music Interpretation workshops for grade 12 art classes and privately from his studio.

 

Ruth Doyon

Ruth produces original hand pulled prints using safe copper etching and intaglio techniques developed by Keith Howard, her first Visual Art Instructor and one of the most renowned contemporary printmakers.  She also explores with other media's, such as acrylic, oil, pastel, and sanguine creating art work that is representative of the many interests she pursues in her life.

Since 1992, Ruth has participated in many group exhibitions and in five Traveling Exhibitions across Canada.  Her work is found in numerous private and corporate collections.

Ruth has taught children and adult printmaking and other art medium subjects as well as art appreciation classes.
